Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told the meeting on Thursday that Iran’s foreign policy on Africa was being drastically reviewed and the updated version would improve the trade and economic relations with African countries.
The meeting also addressed possible ways to accelerate the pace of ties with Africa following the JCPOA implementation and the ease which embraced Iran’s economy and improved the country’s status in terms of business. “For the 5 upcoming years, Iran will increase its trade balance with African countries to new highs according to the strategy devised; African countries ambassadors could play important role in formulations of the mechanisms to attain this and to obtain a clear prospect of the future relations with African continent,” he told the meeting.
A second speaker, Reza Veiseh, Adviser and Coordination and Supervision Aid to First Vice-President Ishaq Jahangiri, said that a special Africa Headquarter had been revived in the cabinet to address new projects and plans which would improve and accelerate economic relations and trade with African countries and to raise the bilateral trade balance.
African ambassadors welcomed the new strategy and the meeting, expressing hopes that the Africa Headquarters could take major steps toward succeed and in realization of the trade agreements between Iran and African continent. They also unanimously emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran could help the continent in different fields including energy, science, medicine and health and infrastructures.
